The Opening Ceremony - Our favorite things
The pageantry of the Opening Ceremony is always spectacular. Our favorite thing was the looks on the faces of the athletes as they came into the stadium. There's nothing captures the moment better.
We both liked all of the elements that took a great big group of people to make a symbol. The beating heart, and all of the people in white hanging from the poles to form a white dove - very cool!
The thing we thought was really weird was the music they chose to march in the athletes. Using all of the old American hit music from the 70s and 80s instead of Olympic Fanfare type music was odd, but the athletes seemed to like it. There's something a little odd about seeing teams from half way across the globe marching in to Village People's YMCA!
